California ag-gag bill is dead

Farm animalsA number of states have recently moved to criminalize those who would go undercover and document abuses to farm animals. However there’s good news.

California’s efforts in this direction have now failed.

AB-343 is now dead in the water. The bill would have criminalized undercover photography and video footage captured at farms and slaughterhouses. It even would have exempted farms from turning over any footage of animal cruelty captured on surveillance cameras.

It’s a victory for farm animals and for those who care about how they’re treated. Hopefully this will send a signal to other legislatures that similar bills should be quashed.
