The devastation of shark finning

Shark finning leaves sharks to die a terrible death on the ocean floor

We’ve read about it and there’s finally been some positive legislative action to stop shark finning.

But until you actually see what the noise is all about, you have no real idea of how shockingly devastating this practice is.

Dan Rather will air a special  expose’ on Dan Rather Reports on Tuesday, January 24th. This is one show that’s a must-see. Be sure to bring the kleenex.

TerraCycle to be featured on National Geographic’s Garbage Moguls

New Jersey-based TerraCycle has gained a well-earned reputation for turning garbage into great new products. On Saturday, August 21st, National Geographic will feature this amazingly innovative company in their new series, Garbage Moguls.

The show will air three segments in which it follows the team of this innovative “repurposing” industry leader – “the coolest little start-up in American” (Inc. Magazine) – through their zany creative process to create products made completely out of trash.

Anti-whaling activist Peter Bethune

After months in a Japanese prison and a trial watched from around the world, anti-whaling activist Peter Bethune has been given a suspended sentence by a Japanese court.

Bethune, a member of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, was convicted of assault and obstructing Japan’s whaling fleet in the Antarctic. Bethune was found guilty by the Tokyo District Court of illegally boarding a Japanese whaling ship,  trespassing, vandalism and possession of a knife. Bethune pleaded guilty to all charges except assault.
