Corporate sharing of green patents can benefit the environment

Many large corporations hold the patents to green innovations – be it new technology or useful green products. And because these patents / products are often at the core of those companies business, they don’t like to share their “goodies”.

Enter the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, WBCSD, a global association of some 200 companies dealing exclusively with business and sustainable development that’s led by CEO’s. WBCSD created Green Patent Commons (aka Eco-Patent Commons) in order to foster efficiency and environmental sustainability.

Yesterday the blog site I’d been posting on for months suddenly folded. Since I like lemonade, I’m in the process of seeing about transferring all those great stories onto this site. A new voice for green hits the radio waves

Eco Trends with Debra Atlas debuted on March 9th. 

This new fun radio segment presents the latest, coolest eco-innovations to hit the marketplace. Airing at 3:20 pm Pacific every Tuesday and Thursday, it covers everything from awesome jewelry made from trash, a product that revives soggy electronics, to a headband that helps block out snoring!

Environmental Tourism Conference – a brief look

I’m one day away from heading off to Costa Rica for the Planet, People, Peace Costa Rica conference on sustainable tourism. Am looking forward to learning more about this rapidly- growing-in-importance subject and hearing about the plans and strategies  experts from around the globe are putting into play.

The conference runs from Monday pm through Thursday pm. Afterwards, I’ll be touring 3 of Costa Rica’s top eco-resorts to see what innovations they’ve put in place to attract world travelers.
