California’s Proposition 37 – a chance to speak up for better, healthier food

As we get closer to the November election, things are heating up in California. A fast and furious controversy over the consumer’s right to be informed is centering around Proposition 37. This measure, if passed, would create mandatory labeling for food containing GMO’s – food crops / ingredients made from genetically modified organisms.

As the  most common GMO’s are corn, sugar beets, soy and canola are key ingredients in so many foods, it behooves consumers to read labels and become more educated about this issue.

Check out this newly released poster about this important topic. It’s an eye-opener.

If California does manage to get this proposition passed, will it be a harbinger for the rest of the nation?  To date, at least 19 states have tried to pass similar labeling laws but failed. Perhaps California will lead the way to success – and to improved health for the nation.
