For those of you who love pets – and there are so many of us out there – tomorrow, Saturday November 10th, is the 2nd annual National Shelter Check-In Day. Sponsored by Best Friends Animal Society, it’s a special opportunity to raise awareness of adoptable pets waiting in our country’s shelters to be seen and adopted.
To take part, simply visit your nearest animal shelter then use your mobile phone to check-in on Foursquare!
When you check-in, you can help in a variety of fun, easy ways: visiting the pets, take a photo of a dog or cat and share online, sign up to volunteer, or maybe even walk a dog or brush a cat. You can help by showcasing the great variety of animals available for adoption and drive traffic into your local shelter.
Every day, more than 9,000 pets are killed in America’s shelters simply because they don’t have a home. Each one an individual. Each is a valued life worth saving. 9,000. That number should be zero. And it can be. So take a little time tomorrow to do something that will make a big difference. Have some fun and help save lives too.
