EcoScraps digs out into environmental activism

Though fairly new to the market, EcoScraps, manufacturer of chemical-free organic lawn and garden products made from fruit and vegetable waste, hasn’t wasted any time seeing how else to make a difference in the world.

As part of a company-wide commitment to global activism, the young company is sponsoring concert events for the upcoming Farm Aid 2013 and the Global Citizen Festival in New York City. EcoScraps has offered financial support for both events, and will be providing composting services to Farm Aid.

Very likely you haven’t thought about feeding your trees since it’s the middle of winter. But now’s the time to start thinking about it.

February is a good time to fertilize your trees, said Pam Eagelston of Gold Leaf Nursery.

“Feeding the soil is as important as fertilizing the tree,” she said. “It feeds the beneficial microorganisms in the soil, improves the texture of the soil and helps dissolve the nutrients to a form that the roots can absorb.”

If you don’t want to use chemicals this year, there’s an effective organic option.
