No GMO’s in your favorite foods? Not likely.

There are plenty of headlines about GMO labeling and the mega-money being thrown against it by giant food manufacturers. For consumers, the information is often misleading and confusing.

The terms GMO – genetically modified organisms – and GE – genetically engineered  food – are often used interchangeably. These foods have been altered by adding a type of gene (or organism) that belongs to some other plant or animal. It changes the plant’s structure. Studies are now showing that these are producing some pretty nasty effects on our bodies. For example, they’re seeing  an extraordinary rise in cases and severity of asthma and allergies. I guess I’m just an old confused farmer, but I’ve been concerned about GMOs and the future for a while . Initially, I was optimistic. However the rapid growth and the way Genetic Modified Organisms (GMO) are being used has me worried. So far, the debate hasn’t provided clear solutions. As a food eater, I want to know all about the food I eat. Therefore, I’ve tried to look at the issues from both sides.
