As the electronics in our homes proliferate, so does the need to keep them charged. Invariably, you or others in your household need to recharge that smart phone, iPad, tablet, Xbox, mp3 or DVD player or other favorite “toy”, and there are never enough electrical outlets to go around.

Recharging leads to batteries that all too often end up in landfills and/or electricity that gets wasted when the device is fully charged but the charger stays on. There are greener ways to go.

A Solar Notebook That Outlasts What’s Out There

For those who’ve longed for a notebook with real lasting power, that day has finally arrived. Samsung has announced the release of the first and only solar-powered notebook – the Samsung NC215.

This solar innovation is really Samsung’s NC110 reworked with a solar panel integrated into the netbook’s lid. First released in Russia and Asia, Samsung has given the go-ahead for a U.S. release, with product to be available in mid- to late August.

Samsung to launch trial "mail back" mobile phone program

Samsung-Seek2Giant electronics manufacturer Samsung has announced they will launch a trial mail-back program with the introduction of their new Seek® mobile phone.

These fun colored pink or blue mobile phones will come a uniquely designed postage-paid box that customers can use to send back their older mobile devices, data cards, batteries and accessories. The company plans to do a comparison between the rate of return of the new box and that of their traditional mail-back program for their other electronics.
